The White family started Stratus in 2023 on a simple belief: families who grow food together eat better, live healthier, and build stronger communities. They pooled their resources, leased the land, and started growing.

What families ask before they join

Still unsure? Call the farm on (678) 555-0192, Monday to Saturday, 8am–5pm — or email and we reply within a business day or two.

  • What does “one month of garden service” actually involve?+−

    Your household picks one month a year and works 4 days in it. The farm publishes the dated work days for your month and you choose which ones suit you — mornings planting, weeding, harvesting, or preserving alongside other member families.

  • What if we can’t serve the month we picked?+−

    Change it yourself, from your account, to any month that still has room — no phone call and no approval needed. You also name an alternate month when you enrol, in case your first choice fills before you finish.

  • Do we need any farming experience?+−

    None. You work alongside families who have done it before, and the farm sets the task for the day. Most of what needs doing on a work day is learned in the first hour.

  • What do we actually take home?

    2 harvest shares across the year, drawn from what the farm grows and preserves: fresh vegetables, canned goods, freeze-dried foods with a long shelf life, root cellar goods, and the aquaponic catch-and-release harvest.

  • What happens if we miss a harvest?+−

    Each household gets 2 shares per membership year and claims them at the harvest events it chooses. Unclaimed shares do not roll into next year, so the farm can plan what to grow — the co-op notifies you when each event opens.

  • Is the membership fee refundable?+−

    Your annual fee is non-refundable once service has begun. Before then, contact the farm and we will make it right.

  • Can we see the farm before we commit?+−

    Yes, and we would rather you did. Open days for prospective members are the first Saturday of the month, 9am to noon, and tours at other times are available by appointment.

  • What if the co-op is full when we apply?+−

    Membership is capped at 50 households. When every place is taken, new families join a waitlist instead, and the farm offers each opening in order with a time-limited invitation that holds the place while you decide.

  • Why is it the same price for every family?+−

    Because the co-op was founded on the belief that good food should not be priced by income. One flat fee of $600 a year buys the same share for every household, and one month of service is asked of every household too.
